Night owls at a higher risk of diabetes and other illnesses

http://news.yahoo.com/night-owls-higher-risk-diabetes-other-illnesses-173721207.html

"Night owls may enjoy staying up late, but their belated bedtimes may be a detriment to their health in middle age, a new study finds. People with late bedtimes are more likely to develop diabetes and other health problems than early birds, the researchers found."

""These results support the importance of circadian rhythms in metabolic regulation," Kim told Live Science."

what was first, the chicken or the egg? It could be that problems in metabolism could lead to people having bad circadian rhythm so they go to bed later. And later on those same people develop diabetes because of their health issues, not because they were night owls.
