Proper response, in regards to this quote:

"Physical activity is known to have a trophic effect on the brain, it seems likely that the increased innervation of type 1 fibres would mean that activities that maintain and cultivate these muscle fibre types should have an increased trophic effect on the brain"

Would this explain why gum chewing can help increase concentration, due to exercise of these fibres in the jaw (and irrespective of the other positives, such as slight drop in cortisol - )?
